Pinch of salt

½ tsp vanilla extract

1–1½ oz whiskey OR brandy
For the Crown
-
Whipped cream

Caramel sauce

Cinnamon

Optional tiny pieces of baked apple

How to Make It
1. Make the caramelized apples.
Place butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
Add diced apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and water.
Cook for approximately 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the apples become tender and glossy.
2. Turn them into caramel apples.
Stir in the caramel sauce and cook for another 30–60 seconds.
You want the apples coated in a thick, buttery caramel glaze.
3. Make the milk.
Warm the milk and vanilla over medium-low heat until steaming but not boiling.
Froth until creamy.
4. Build the latte.
Place about 2 tablespoons of the caramelized apples and caramel mixture into the bottom of a mug.
Add the espresso.
Pour the warm vanilla milk over the top and gently stir.
5. Add the spirit.
Stir in:
-
Whiskey for a deeper, smoky autumn flavor
OR -
Brandy for a warmer, fruitier, almost baked-apple character.
6. Top with whipped cream.
Drizzle caramel from high above the cup, allowing some to run down the inside of the glass.
Finish with cinnamon and a few tiny pieces of caramelized apple.
Pie Crust Crumble
For the Caramel Apple Pie Latte, add ½–1 teaspoon of finely crushed buttery pie crust to the bottom of the glass before adding the apples.
Now you've basically turned the latte into apple pie à la mode in a glass.
